The internet has been buzzing on a woman calling herself SoBo girl after she posted a video on Instagram telling people what she earns monthly and also her expenses. Anhadh, a marketing expert in the South Mumbai area, has divulged that the monthly salary she gets is Rs 2.67 lakh. Then she described the detailed information about her monthly spending by stating that the talk of money is a taboo in Indian and that is not the case.

There is another thing she explained in the video, namely that she does not pay rent and groceries as she lives with her parents.

Anhadh told us that out of the monthly Rs 2.67 lakh, she earns, about Rs 1.80 lakh is directly invested into her SIPs. Subsequently, she will be left with 87 000 Rs a month which she uses in entertainments like going out, spending time with friends, personal attention and so on.

She told me that her eating out was the highest in the month of June, meaning Rs 16,000. Next is the fun category that entails movies, going out she said and added that she had spent Rs 8,500 in the fun category and that was a result of one night of going out on the town.

Next, Anhadh told that she had spent Rs 8,500 on grooming, RS 3400 on Swiggy, Rs 1300 in books, Rs 600 in tennis and a bit more than that in Uber. She did end up with Rs 47,000 at the end of the clip that she deposits in a “mystery fund”.

The video has now become viral with over 885,000 views and over 27,000 likes, since the time it was shared. The post has resulted to both swinging reactions. Even though some people were surprised by her high income, there were those who termed her as being unrealistic and unrelatable.

In response to the harsh remarks, Anhadh posted, “Properly aware, keenly aware, and cognizant of my privilege and so by all means block me guys plz anyway have been extra penny-wise as to save up some money toward the mystery fund as to which I am soo very excited to tell you guys at the appropriate moment !!” Anyhow be blessed make ur money and begin to talk about money to your friends !!!

Nevertheless, her reaction could not prevent the people to leave comments under the video.

This is honestly unrealistic. There is no need to pay rent, groceries, electricity and petrol bills, tax, house help and other miscellaneous maintenance costs. No hate but this is too unreal and not reality scenario, wrote one of the users.

That is so unrealistic girl ? ,”Do you buy your own bills, or at the grocery?” asked another.

A third user wrote, 28k on a marketing job – she must be damn good at her job.

Others users too commented defending her. One of them wrote: “She is literally spending less than 20 percent of the salary and all the people who overspend are trolling her in comments.” Bro can never be happy with the happiness of others. yet be brave enough to share and talk about your expenses . Another said: “I do not believe people want to discuss how much they earn or how much they spend but this is awesome.”

Why are you people terming YOUR spending as unrealistic…etc well it all depends on you, your family, your responsibilities…person has it differently. It is not as you said, that is how the expenses of everyone should be said one user.

Analytics of the cost of SoBo girl

Anhadh indicated that she transferred 1.80 lakh of her 2.67 lakhs monthly income to her SIPs. I lay my hands on none of this money, she said.

    Her post here.

The Mumbai marketing professional will be spending SIPs amounts but after making SIPs, she will be having 87,000 rupees every month. This is because, she does not pay rent or buy groceries as she gets to live with her parents. The 87,000 is hence spent on leisure such as eating out, spending time with friends, self care etc.

Eating out was the largest spending item Anhadh incurred in June and she incurred an enormous 16, 000 rupees taking out. The next category is the fun which involves movie, dressing up and going out, said the Mumbai woman. She had spent 8,500 rupees in the fun category in June and this was not the overall amount which was spent going out in a single day.

In the same month of June, she also bought 8500 on grooming. This, according to Anhadh was an unusually high rate as she had a cut on her hair. Having already spent 3400 rupees on ordering in with Swiggy, 1300 on book, 600 on tennis and a bit more than 600 on Uber, she still had 47,000 rupees.

This 47,000 rupee Anhadh invests in a mystery fund. She did not state what the money raised in this mystery fund will be used, during the video.

    Examine your privilege

Her video recorded 4 lakh views in a day and has become viral on Instagram. Most of the comments in the comment box revealed that a lot of individuals were surprised to see her earn a lot of money. Some were jealous of the fact that she was lucky enough to be privileged, she did not need to pay any rent, she was even saving a great deal of her already large salary.

When Anhadh posted the video, she did it recognizing that she has privileges. She captioned it, with the words, “I am consciously and really aware of my privilege, so yall don t come for me guys plea2te2! Anyway have been on extra tight budget to save up on mystery fund soo thrilled to be able to tell you guys what it is when time comes!! she finished.

Her recognition did not prevent people leaving the comments on the video claiming that the situation is unrealistic and unrelatable.

It is so unrealistic tbh. There is no rent, groceries, electricity, petrol bills, tax, etc, house help and other miscellaneous maintenance expenses to be paid. There is no hate but this so unreal and not a situation that can happen irl, exclaimed one Instagram user.

It is so unrealistic girl ?? Another one asked: do you buy your own bills or groceries?

Such a good video, can you also discuss your earning of salary? Questions like how many years have you been working, what was your base salary etc were in the mind of another third person.
