Hours after a fatal car explosion near the Red Fort in the outskirts of Delhi, nine people were killed and over a dozen more wounded, the first shots of the suspect, who is the driver of the car that detonated, have been made.

The suicide bomber suspected to be the driver behind the wheels of the white Hyundai i20 car, which exploded close to the Red Fort on Monday evening is Dr Umar Mohammad. His brothers and mother have been arrested on questioning somewhere in Jammu and Kashmir.

The security cameras record the vehicle parked at the Red Fort during three hours with the driver inside the vehicle, not leaving the vehicle not even once. Upon its eventual motion, it went towards the traffic light at the Metro Station where it blew up at around 6.52 pm.

Upon the 24th of February 1989, Umar Mohammad Dulwal born in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir was a doctor with Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad. He had supposedly been the close aide of the two arrested doctors, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Mujammil Shakil whose arrests happened during the investigations of a new white collar terror module which was busted by the police forces of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.

The investigators think that Umar was able to escape out of Faridabad after he was told that his associates were arrested and that 2,900 kg of explosives had been confiscated during the last few days. It is reported that he panicked and set the blast off in the surroundings of Red Fort the seventeenth century construction of the Mughals which is among the most visited tourist places in the country.

The attack was executed by Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) by Umar Mohammad and his comrades. Sources said that they fitted a detonator in the vehicle, and executed the terror attack in a busy place near Red Fort.

    How Delhi Blast Was Executed

The video and photographs of CCTV cameras display Hyundai i20 car smuggling into Delhi at Badarpur border. It reached Old Delhi using the Outer Ring Road. The car, which had a number plate HR 26CE7674, had been in the car park outside the Red Fort since more than three hours where it was parked at 3:19 pm and was parked at about 6:30 pm according to reports.

Research indicates that the car was sold to various people. Sources have indicated that one of the sellers of the car, Salman, a Gurugram resident to a man called Devender in Okhla in March 2025. Devender in turn sold it to an Ambalan man.

The car was stationed at Ambala, but at Pulwama, where connections between Aamir, Tariq and Umar Rashid were established.

Researches indicated that Aamir had sold the car to Umar Mohammad.

The Delhi Police group is questioning both, Aamir and Tariq.

In one of the pictures, Aamir has been depicted with the car key, most likely after he purchased the car.

The relationship that Umar Mohammad had with doctors who were arrested in Faridabad in the last few days is under investigation. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a physician at the Government Medical College (GMC) at Anantnag was arrested on November 6, 2014, on a SCTV footage of him installing posters to the Jaish-e-Mohammed group hailing Srinagar.

On Monday, this week, police raided the GMC Anantnag in which an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, which belonged to Adil, were discovered in a locker. In the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (prevention) Act, he was accused. As a result of the raids, 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons were recovered in Faridabad – which Adil was reported to have been storing with another doctor who was identified as Muzammil Shakeel – and arrested on November 10.

Dr Shaheen Shahid, a female physician was also arrested under the same module with Dr Shakeel. Her car was found with a rifle and live cartridges according to the sources.

The Gujarat ATS made an arrest of Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed on allegations of plotting the Ricin terror attack. He had purportedly made a recce of the office at Lucknow of the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which is the ideological mentor of the BJP, and thronged markets in the city.

Following the investigation on the explosion in the area that surrounds the historic Red Fort in Delhi, today, three more physicians of Al-Falah University at Faridabad were arrested by the investigators. The university has featured on the headlines following the revelation of their three doctors who were associated with it and were put into the limelight after being accused of involvement in terrorist activities which included the one that was witnessed yesterday in which nine people died and more than 20 others sustained injuries. The National Investigation Agency which is the best anti-terror agency in India has now conducted the investigation of the blast which has rocked the nation.

Delhi police crime branch officers visited the university, searched CCTV shots of their campus, and even conducted interviews with individuals on campus this morning to learn more information of three doctors whose names have been mentioned in the investigation of the huge amount of explosives found in Faridabad and the resulting explosive blast.

Muzammil Shakeel, Umar Mohammed and Shaheen Shahid are these three doctors. Investigators have discovered that Muzammil and Umar, and Shaheen were all of Kashmir, and employed at the hospital at Faridabad. One of the sources claimed that all of them were senior doctors in the university-cum-hospital.

The name of Muzammil was mentioned as the probe into the discovery of a huge consignment of explosives in Faridabad. Approximately, 2,900 kg of material employed in the manufacture of bombs and other suspicious materials were retrieved in two rooms which Muzammil had rented in Faridabad. Indeed, he had leased such rooms despite being in the university campus.

Other than these two rooms, a car owned by a colleague of Muzammil at Al-Falah University also had assault rifles along with ammunition. This is a colleague by the name Shaheen Shahid. In the enquiry made, Shahid was appointed to establish the Jaish-e-Mohammed women wing of Jamaat ul-Mominaat in India. This is a new branch of the terror group headed by the sister of Jaish founder, Masood Azhar, Sadia Azhar.

Soon after the retaliation close to Faridabad as well as the news of a foiled terror strike, the fatal explosion in the area of the Red Fort occurred. The name Umar Mohammed came out as security agencies began connecting the dots. It has been learned, Umar, was also employed with Al-Falah and a close companion of Muzammil. The investigators believe that he was operating Hyundai i20 vehicle that caught fire close to a traffic signal. It is also under investigation whether Umar had made the decision of attacking with suicide following the crack down of Muzammil by the security agencies and the subsequent huge recovery.
